Volunteer Information
Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union is a
member-owned, not-for-profit financial institution whose
primary mission is serving our members.
MPECU got its start in 1933. During its first 61
years, it served solely the employees and family members
of Minnesota Power. Now MPECU’s 6700 members are from
its field of membership which include employees and
families of ALLETE INC., Qwest, Qwest DEX, at&t, LHB,
Cirrus Design, Stewart-Taylor Printing, Sansio, Duluth News
Tribune, Enbridge Energy, Enventis Telecom, CW
Technology, and maurices. MPECU
currently has 20 employees that manage $65 million in
assets. It is a state-chartered credit union governed by
the Minnesota Department of Commerce and is active in
the Arrowhead Chapter of Credit Unions and the Minnesota
Credit Union Network.
MPECU offers a full range of products and services to
its members. It is a member of the CU Shared Service
Center, providing access nationwide. The mission
statement of MPECU reads:
Member owned and member driven, the purpose
of the Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union is
to provide members convenient, efficient, high
quality financial service while maintaining
competitive, fair rates and fiscal soundness.
