MPECU’s Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee, and Credit Committees are made up of members just like you. Unlike other financial institutions, our board and committees are unpaid volunteers—not the wealthiest stockholders—so they are working on behalf of all members, not the select few.

 

For 2024, we are looking for candidates to fill our Credit Committee and Supervisory Committee.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Serving on the Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union (MPECU) Board of Directors is a volunteer position.  There are seven Board Members serving rotating terms.  All Board members must be active members of MPECU.  Board members are nominated by the Nominating Committee and elected by the membership at the Annual Meeting.

CREDIT COMMITTEE

Serving on the Credit Committee is a volunteer position.  There are three or more Credit Committee members serving rotating terms.  All Credit Committee members must be active members of Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union (MPECU).  Credit Committee nominees are recommended by the Nominating Committee and elected by the membership at the Annual Meeting.

SUPERVISORY COMMITTEE

Serving on the Supervisory Committee is a volunteer position.  There are three to five Supervisory Committee members serving rotating terms.  All Supervisory Committee members must be active members of the credit union.  Committee nominees are recommended by the Nominating Committee and elected by the membership at the Annual Meeting.

BOARD and COMMITTEE DUTIES and SUCCESSION POLICY

Board members are elected at the Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union (MPECU) annual meeting.  All board members must be members of the credit union.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS TRAINING

Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) compliance remains high on the examiner’s list for all credit unions, so credit union volunteers need to be familiar with BSA requirements. To ensure compliance, board members are required to trained and tested on the fundamentals.

VOLUNTEER OFFICIALS CODE of ETHICS/CONFLICT of INTEREST POLICY

The objective of Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union (MPECU) is to maintain the highest standard of business ethics and conduct in our daily relationship with our members, board of directors, credit committee, supervisory committee, employees, and outside providers of service to the credit union. 

The purpose of the policy is to establish guidelines to comply fully with all applicable laws and regulations pertaining to the operation of the credit union and the duties performed by the board of directors, credit committee, and supervisory committee of the credit union.
